Windsor has some pricey road construction plans on its to-do list for East Windsor’s Ward 7 — there’s just no money allocated for them yet.

Jeewen Gill, who has represented the riding since a 2020 byelection and hopes to continue, wants to change that. Pushing the mayor and the rest of council and city hall to push up those start dates is what he’s pledging to do if re-elected on Oct. 24.

Gill said the No. 1 issue for Ward 7 is the need for infrastructure improvements, particularly road upgrades.

He sees three projects as priorities to address increasing traffic volumes and safety — widening Tecumseh Road eastward from Lauzon Road to Banwell Road by adding a left-hand turn lane; upgrading the intersection at Forest Glade Drive to add turn lanes; and getting a Banwell Road overpass built over E.C. Row Expressway.

Of those three, only the Forest Glade Drive intersection is currently in Windsor’s 10-year capital spending plan, and a city engineering source said that project, slated for 2030, still needs council’s approval for most of the cost.
