Travel Update and COVID-19 FAQ

Travel Update and COVID-19 FAQ

The Public Health Agency of Canada is continuing to advise travelers to avoid non-essential travel outside of Canada and advising extra caution if you must travel. Variants of the virus causing COVID-19 are under investigation in many countries, and it is expected that these variants will be reported in more countries as time goes on. Staying in Canada will help to protect you, your family, and those most at risk of severe illness from COVID-19 in our communities

Employees are encouraged to review and follow both the federal and provincial restrictions and requirements and to take precautions to protect themselves and others against COVID-19 in the event they choose to travel. We have created a new Travel and COVID-19 FAQ (attached) to help answer any questions you may have.

The federal government has created a guidance document with detailed travel information. In addition, you can visit the Travel Advice and Advisories page, find your destination, and click on the Health tab to see destination-specific information. If you travel abroad, you should plan how you’ll meet Canada’s travel requirements upon your return.

Employees who travel must follow all testing, quarantine, and reporting requirements. Any employee who is instructed to quarantine by border personnel must not attend the workplace until the quarantine is lifted. All employees must disclose their travel itinerary outside of Canada to their manager and their Disability Management Specialist (DMS) if they are required to quarantine when they return. If an employee anticipates needing to quarantine, they must inform their manager/supervisor of their travel itinerary before traveling and factor this into their requested time off.

Visit the COVID-19 Information for Staff page on Dashboard for the latest information, including the new Travel and COVID-19 FAQ, the COVID-19 Directive, and the Return to Work Protocols.

Thank you for continuing to do your part to keep us all safe.
