Fire Competitions Set to Thrill at Can-Am Police-Fire Games

The Can-Am Police-Fire Games are only a few weeks away but that hasn’t stopped organizers from adding a first-time games competition that is sure to thrill the athlete and firefighter fan in each of us.

The 2022 CAN-AM Police Fire-Games are collaborating with FireFit to host the FireFit Competition at Festival Plaza on Saturday July 30 from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

The FireFit Championships is a competition based on firefighting tasks commonly performed—testing strength and endurance. From seasoned veterans to first time rookies, the competitions will be a showcase to see. (Check out the Video).  Note:  Firefighters can still register at windsor2022.ca until July 26, 2022 and there is a $250 cash prize provided by Rampart International for the top teams from the Relay and Tech2 events.

Special thanks to the St. Clair College Alumni, Oscar Construction Co. Ltd and Skyway Canada Ltd. for helping make this new partnership possible.

WomenOnFire Returns:

In addition to the FireFit event, Windsor Fire and Rescue will host the third annual WomenOnFire Saturday July 30, 2022.

WomenOnFire aims to promote diversity in emergency responder/security organizations (such as Fire, Police, Emergency Medical Systems (EMS), Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), and the Canadian Armed Forces) within Windsor/Essex County.  This initiative will also provide a recruitment training opportunity for women 18 years and older; to try out various components of each organizations physical testing, ask questions, network with women already working within the organizations, and to have an opportunity to mentor with these women if they choose.

Two sessions will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 10::00 a.m. and noon to 2:00 p.m. and one lucky registrant from each session will win a $250 dollar cash prize courtesyofRampart International.

Registration is free but space is limited so participants are asked to register in advance to secure a spot.   The City of Windsor will accept registrations through Activewindsor.ca (search #WomenOnFire) or by calling 519-255-1161.

Thank you to St. Clair College Alumni, Windsorite.ca and Rampart International for supporting this WomenOnFire event.

Firefighter Corporate Obstacle Course:

The CAN-AM Police-Fire Games, in collaboration with the Windsor Corporate Challenge, is hosting a Firefighter Corporate Obstacle Course on Saturday, July 30 following the FireFit Competition and the WomenOnFire sessions at the Festival Plaza.

This is a wonderful opportunity for local businesses to experience first hand what our first responders do and use this experience as a training session in preparation for the 10th Annual Windsor Corporate Challenge in September.

Only teams registered for the Windsor Corporate Challenge are eligible to participate in the Firefighter Corporate Obstacle Course, so rally your coworkers and register for the 10th Annual Windsor Corporate Challenge powered by The Job Shoppe! Learn more here: www.windsorcorporatechallenge.com

Tug Across the River:30 of the strongest firefighters Windsor Fire and Rescue has to offer will be pulling for Canada at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022.
