CITY TO ASK ABOUT TRAIN WHISTLES THROUGH WINDSOR’S WARD 7

A member of Windsor City Council has asked the administration to see what can be done about long train whistles through his part of the city.

Ward 7 Councillor Jeewan Gill has been receiving complaints from people in his ward about the noise.

Gill says it has to do with the trains passing on the tracks in the area of Clover Avenue and along Banwell Road.

“They see like longer whistles are happening, so we can see what can be done. It is under federal jurisdiction that can we can try to reach out to them to accommodate that through rectification or they can do a smaller whistle or quit whistling through that section.”

He says the city’s Rail Issues Committee to deal with train issues was disbanded in 2019 but the administration has other options.

“They have the ability to reach out to the train partners and try to see what can be done, and how that can be rectified.”

According to the city administration, the Rail Safety Act allows municipalities to make a request to the train companies when it comes to training whistle issues.
